Data privacy is central to how we operate. Busuu follows GDPR requirements, making sure personal data is collected and processed lawfully and transparently. We have clear policies and procedures in place to protect information.

  • Rely on AES-256 encryption for stored data, and TLS 1.2 or above for data moving between your teams and Busuu

Responsible AI, built for enterprise

Busuu uses AI to give learners instant feedback on their speaking and writing. We're clear about where they’re using AI, careful with the data behind it, and they can choose to opt out.

  • Any learner content sent to our AI providers is used to generate feedback and nothing else. It's never used to train or improve their models.
  • We make sure learners can see when they're practising with AI, and when they're working with a qualified teacher or the Busuu Community.
  • Some processing retains no data at all, and other data is held briefly, then moved to secure storage.

As part of our due diligence, each of our AI providers undergoes our privacy and security assessment, and our sub-processors are listed in our Trust Centre so you can review them as well. All of our relationships are governed by Data Processing Agreements.

Busuu uses AI to give learners instant feedback on their speaking and writing, and to adapt vocabulary and grammar practice to what each learner finds difficult. Learner content is sent to our AI providers for that purpose only. It isn't used to train their models, and we don't sell or share it.

Where can I find Busuu’s certifications, policies and sub-processor list?

 They're all in our Trust Centre. You'll find our ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certificate, our security and privacy policies, and our current sub-processor list. You can also request anything else your team needs to review.
